Trampantojo in Montera Street

A Trampantojo is a trick or illusion that deceived someone into seeing what is not there.

In Madrid they are common in some walls, where they make the illusion of what could be the building’s continuation, if it had windows and terraces.

In the Plaza de los Carros there is a beautiful one and in the whole area of Latina there’s many of them. Another curious one is on the corner of the De la Sal street with Postas Alley, where you can see the painting of Mingote; you will recognize his drawings representing characters of the play “Fortunata y Jacinta” leaning out from balconies:
