a group tour in El Escorial courtyard

El Escorial

This UNESCO site is one of the jewels of the Spanish Renaissance, a massive building that contains:

  • a Royal Palace with part of the original furniture
  • a Monastery, that is still in use, with beautiful frescos and paintings
  • a Pantheon of the kings of Spain
  • a National Library with about 40000 old books that king himself started to collect
  • a catholic School, also still in use.
  • an imposing Church with thousands of relics.

For this reason we can say that there is a whole city withing its facades.

With our private tour in El Escorial you will discover the history of the Spanish Empire of the 16th century, we will relish every piece of art in this museum and, equally important, we will gossip about the extraordinary lives of the kings and persons in power.

Valley of the Fallen

The Valley of the Fallen is a Catholic Church, it is also a crypt for 33,833 people who died during the Spanish Civil War. It was commissioned by Franco in 1940, and for this reason this is a controversial monument for the Spanish society.

This Basilica is a very recent piece of history, a place very useful to better understand what happened just some decades ago. A place to remember things that we should never forget.
